“The best way to predict your future is to create it”, Abraham Lincoln
St Paul’s College is committed to assisting students in their pathways and career development to discover and harness their individual interests and talents. Career education at St Paul's centres around research, immersion and experience.
Preparation is everything. St Paul's is committed to starting discussions with our students in Year 10 about their future. In Year 10, students gain access to our "Careers Tools School Website” and individual student subscriptions to “The Careers Department”, which provides them with the first steps to discover and learn about post school study and employment pathways. Students are also invited to participate in a varied work experience program.
In Years 11 and 12, regular Career Counselling Sessions are held with our Careers Adviser, Ms Flanigan, guiding them to explore their talents and interests. Senior students are engaged in a variety of careers discussions and are given a wide array of opportunities to hear from guest speakers, attend specialist industry career expos, and visit local TAFE and tertiary institutions.
SPC Ag & Equine Careers Expo
On Monday the 16th of September, St Paul's College held its annual Farmer's Day fundraising event. To further spotlight agriculture and equine, and to target the strong interest the students of the college have in this area, we incorporate a Careers in Agriculture & Equine Expo into this event. This was an information sharing exhibition comprised of a series of tertiary and employment providers who have a specialist focus (or courses) in the areas of agriculture and equine. I would like to extend a huge thank-you to Nutrien Ag Solutions, Kotzur Silos, Lawson Grain, Hutcheon & Pearce, Hygain, Wodonga TAFE - Agschools & Agricutlure Departments, Charles Sturt University - Agriculture, Animal & Equine Science Faculty, LaTrobe University and Marcus Oldham University for attending the event. Students were able to spend their extended lunchtime wandering around the expo having conversations with stall holders, collecting information guides, and asking their specific, individualised questions about these post-school study pathways and work opportunities.
